This is a beach in the west of the city on the Malabar coast of India. It is a prominent place for public gatherings. The city is located about 380 kilometers north of the capital Thiruvananthapuram. A short period of mango rain before the monsoon hits the city in April. However, the main source of rain is the southwest monsoon which sets in the first week of June and continues through September. The city receives significant rainfall from the northeast monsoon which begins in the second half of October through November.
