Sanatana Dharma Meaning – Origin, Definition and History

Meaning of Sanatana – Dharma

Namashkaram. First of All Thank you for landing at writerclubs.in and I am greatful for that. When I was 12 I asked my guru that what is the meaning of Sanatana Dharma. And My Guru replied “before that you have to understand the meaning of sanatana”.

Like me you also need to understand the meaning of Sanatana. Sanatana means “eternal” which means without beginning or end.

Interesting right. The real meaning of Sanatana is without beginning or end. And as follows Sanatana Dharma is “the dharma which has not beginning or end” that means Sanatana dharma for forever. There is no begining and no end for Sanatana dharma.

Sanatana Dharma Origin

Sanatana dharma dosen’t have any origin or beginning. It is not created or founded by anyone like other religions. Dharma is here from the beginning of the life till end of the life and both are eternal.

There is no beginning and no end for Sanatana Dharama and this is the real Meaning of Sanatana Dharma.

No one can claim that Sanatan dharma is founded by a one entity. There are no proofs available for the same.

Sanatana Dharma includes Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, Sikhism itself. When we talk about Sanatana Dharma that means this all religions are included.

Dharma Definition

There are few misconception among us about dharma. Yes we think that Dharma Means Religion. No and Big No. Religion and Dharma both are separated can not translated as religion.

Now you will ask me for proof. Read the proof below and this proof is from Manusmriti the sacred book of Hinduism.

Dharma Meaning in Jain Text

Dharama is Part of Dravya (matter) in Jain scriptures which help us to move. I know this is deep but it’s true.

There are six drvyas in Jainism
jiva (living being)

Ajiva (Non living being)

Dharma (which help us to move)

Adharma (which help us to stagnate)

Aakash (Sky)

Kal (time)

The Combination of all of these six dravya is known as Vishva (World). Which is not created by anyone. It’s eternal.

I hope you will find this information valuable. Please comment down you query and I will add this too in this blog.

I have already written a blog named Widow marriage in Hinduism. Please check this also. Namashkar.
