Udaipur is the home of Karni Mata, popularly known as Goddess Durga’s rebirth. The Mansapurna Karni Mata Temple, commonly known as the Karni Mata Temple in Udaipur, is a relatively simple to reach Durga temple in Udaipur. The temple is near the Doodh Talai Lake, on the Machla Magra Hills. The holy Karni Mata is represented by a stone idol in the temple.
The Karni Mata Temple Udaipur, which was built in the 1620s and is positioned on the top of a hill, offers a breathtaking vista of unending beauty.
The vista of Lake Pichola, Lake Palace, the majestic Sajjangarh Fort, DudhTalai Park, and Udaipur’s charming city is breathtaking. In Udaipur, the Karni Mata Temple looks out over the city of lakes and the surrounding countryside.
While the temple itself is small and unassuming, the vista from the fort is one of Udaipur’s top sunset spots. The temple can be reached in two ways. You can either walk up the hill or utilize the ropeway (on your risk here we don’t recommend you to take the ride). With the deep forest on one side and the lake and city on the other, the ropeway ride is a fantastic experience.
History of the Karni Mata Temple Udaipur
Maharana Karan Singh built the Karni Mata Temple in Udaipur between 1620 and 1628 while working on the expansion of Machla Magra’s residential districts. The temple was not well-known until 1997, and just a few people came to see it.
Devotees began crowding the temple premises in droves only after the Mansapurna Karni Mata Development Committee completed a rehabilitation project in 1997.
The temple is now completely equipped with conveniently accessible staircases and ropeways, as well as numerous resting areas for the convenience of Karni Mata’s followers and worshippers.
About the goddess of the temple
It is considered auspicious to visit the temple twice a day. It is stated that if you visit the temple in the morning and evening, Karni Mata herself will fulfil your wants and aspirations.
This is how Karni Mata, according to legend, extends your life span. According to legend, believers should feed the temple rats in order to have a better life and good fortune in the future. Karni Mata admires and respects you if you take care of rats in this manner.
The temple is known for its beautiful sunset and if you wish to not miss it, the ideal time to visit would be 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. The ropeway, sunset and darshan could take about 2- 3 hours so make your decision accordingly. And the nest time for sightseeing in Udaipur is from October to February with a cool and dry climate.
