Devotees began crowding the temple premises in droves only after the Mansapurna Karni Mata Development Committee completed a rehabilitation project in 1997.

Best time to visit and few rules to keep in mind:
The temple is known for its beautiful sunset and if you wish to not miss it, the ideal time to visit would be morning 6:00 am to 7:30 am and evening 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. The ropeway, sunset and darshan could take about 2- 3 hours so make your decision accordingly. And the nest time for sightseeing in Udaipur is from October to February with a cool and dry climate.
Please remember that the Karni Mata Temple is a place of devotion when you visit. Even if you’re merely going to see the sunset, it’s crucial to treat others with respect. Here are a few things to think about-
- Always keep your shoulders and legs below the knee covered.
- Before entering the temple, take off your shoes.
- Most temples have a “no photographing” policy; however, you could approach the priest for permission.

How to Reach Karni Mata Temple, Udaipur

By car: you can use navigation apps or ask the locals to guide you towards the destination.
Other ways: From the town, take a taxi or rickshaw. Both are readily available in the city; however, make sure to bargain over the price, as drivers can be opportunists when it comes to tourists.
Renting a scooter or bicycle is another option for moving around Udaipur. However, I only advise you to do so if you are confident.
The roads of Udaipur, like most of India, are a rat race, and you must keep your wits about you at all times. Bike rental shops may be found all around the city, and the average daily rate for a basic scooter or bicycle is 500 rupees.
You also have the option of walking the stairs or using the ropeway to the top of Karni Mata Temple’s hill. The trek will take no more than 20 minutes if you are in reasonable shape, while the ropeway will take you to the peak in 5 minutes. Both routes offer spectacular vistas, however hiking is free while the ropeway charges 110 rupees.
